A joint press briefing titled “LDC Graduation: Challenges Ahead” was held today (August 24) at the Intercontinental Hotel in Dhaka.
The event was jointly organized by the International Chamber of Commerce Bangladesh (ICCB), FBCCI, BKMEA, BGMEA, BTMA, Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce, Dhaka Chamber of Commerce, Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and other top business organizations of the country.
BKMEA President Mohammad Hatem attended the press briefing as the spokesperson for Bangladesh’s knitwear sector.
At the briefing, the business leaders urged that Bangladesh’s graduation from the list of Least Developed Countries (LDC) be extended to 2032, instead of the currently scheduled 2026.
The press conference expressed optimism that the extended period would provide greater scope for export diversification, development of skilled manpower in automation and artificial intelligence (AI), and building capacity to face future challenges, thereby ensuring sustainable competitiveness in the global market.
