A high-level delegation from the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) visited the BKMEA Dhaka office today for a courtesy call and strategic dialogue on the future of ethical and sustainable practices in the country’s RMG sector.
Director Mr. Imran Kader Turjo and Mr. Minhazul Hoque representing BKMEA. Mr. Ayon, director of MB Knit Fashion and BKMEA officials also joined the meeting.
The ETI delegation included Margherita Parodi, Legal Frameworks Advisor, ETI, UK; Melissa Karadana, Purchasing Practices Program Lead, ETI, UK; and Mr. Abil Bin Amin, Executive Director, ETI Bangladesh.
Discussions focused on critical sectoral priorities, including the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), promotion of responsible purchasing practices, establishment of a common floor price for RMG products in Bangladesh and advancing fair pricing mechanisms.
Both parties underscored the importance of evidence-based research to address emerging industry challenges.
The ETI delegation expressed interest in enhanced cooperation with BKMEA to drive this agenda forward. In response, BKMEA leaders reiterated their unwavering commitment to supporting initiatives that ensure ethical growth and global competitiveness of Bangladesh’s knitwear industry.
BKMEA is committed to working with international partners like ETI to promote fair, transparent and sustainable business practices in the RMG sector, said the Directors of BKMEA at the meeting.
