Mr. Wayers, Head of the Trade Economic Division of Afghanistan, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Mohammad Hatem, President of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), at BKMEA head office.

The meeting focused on exploring opportunities to strengthen trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. Mr. Wayers praised the progress and modern infrastructure of Bangladesh’s apparel industry and extended a formal state invitation for a BKMEA delegation to visit Afghanistan. President Mohammad Hatem warmly accepted the invitation.

It was also noted that Bangladeshi pharmaceuticals enjoy high popularity in Afghanistan, and Afghan importers are now eager to source apparel from Bangladesh as well.

BKMEA Vice President (Finance) Morshed Sarwar Sohel, along with Directors Md. Abdul Hannan and Shahriar Syed, were present during the meeting.
