Objectives:

  • To encourage and facilitate breastfeeding in the RMG workplace.
  • To build capacity of the members factories on seven standards of MOTHERS@WORK.
  • To uphold and promote the maternity rights of women workers.

 

Description:

MOTHERS@WORK is a national initiative to strengthen maternity rights and protect the breastfeeding rights of working mothers. The program is implemented in partnership with Bangladesh Government, BKMEA, and UNICEF. 

Through this initiative, BKMEA aim to facilitate a work environment that accommodates the unique needs of mothers, including flexible working hours, maternity leave policies, childcare facilities, and other essential services. By implementing such measures, they strive to enhance work-life balance, promote maternal well-being, and ensure the overall welfare of working mothers and their families.

BKMEA is providing training and handholding support to implement seven standards of MOTHERS@WORK. The objective the training is to improve knowledge and capacity of the factory personnel (Compliance, HR, and Welfare Officers) of the participating factories on seven standards of MOTHERS@WORK.

90 member factories of BKMEA will receive the services from the programme.

 

Achievements:

In the 1st phase we have successfully implemented the programme in 30 factories. Now in the extended period, we are implementing the programme in the newly enrolled 60 factories.
